A Busy Month Celebrating Pride + Point Foundation

We’re a proud majority LGBTQ-owned creative agency and we’re thrilled to work with some incredible organizations dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community.

Case in point – this month we flew out to LA to create content for Point Foundation’s Honors Gala and National Leadership Conference.

Point Foundation is an incredible non-profit that empowers promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential through scholarships.

Their honors gala in LA (a 200-person event) was the first large-scale in-person event they’ve held since the pandemic started. Eddie Pelto, Chief Development Officer at Point came to us with some specific content asks and a super tight turnaround time to help make the event sing. As Eddie puts it…

“We decided to take a little bit of a gamble and create a video two days before our gala and have it turned around so that we could show it at the gala. There’s some risk there, but I know what Diagonal can do in a moment, and can get done so quickly and expertly that I felt pretty good about it.”

Eddie wanted us to fly out to LA to attend their National Leadership Conference and create this video to play at the gala. We were thrilled to get this in motion. Here’s a peek at the timeline:

Thursday – our team flies out to LA + conducts interviews with Point’s graduating class at the conference. We also film b-roll.

Friday – we continue to interview people and live edit the footage we receive. By end of the day, Eddie approves the video!

Saturday – the video plays during the gala right before the big fundraising ask of the evening.

We are immensely proud of the final video – please watch it below!

We also needed to create an opening video that set the stage for what gay rights have been for the past 20 years and why Point’s work now in 2022, matters.

With anti-LGBTQ legislation always on the ballot, our community is still actively fighting for our rights. Point’s work ensuring that our next generation of leaders and decision-makers are made up of members of the LGBTQ+ community is vital.

Check out the final video we created, below!

Essentially, we set up a mini production studio during the event and took headshots, filmed interviews, and filmed the gala itself. As a result of this, Point now has content that they’ll be able to use on social media and their website for months to come.

Eddie puts it best…

Boy, do we have a lot of content, and the crew was just amazing. The Diagonal team brings a personality and humanity to everything that they do. You can see it in the work.

The event was a success. Everybody felt that the program was inspirational and moving and fun, which isn’t something you always hear altogether in one thing. And we raised money for Point, and that’s, in the end, the most important thing. So a success all around.

Are you hosting an upcoming event? We’d love to set you up with a full suite of photography and video services to capture content and make the event work for you long after it’s ended.
